Viola! I made it to Laos! Being here right now feels so surreal. It is so HOT here and I am sweating pretty much all the time. The Lao airport was so small compared to the Thailand airport but once we drove into Vientiance, the beautiful arechitecture of the city caught me. Photos to come!
Right now I'm settled in my hotel and just resting. My Fulbright fellows and I are going to be spenidng this month with other students in the Center for Lao's Studies' SAIL (Study Abroard in Laos) program. This serves as our orientation to Lao language and culture.
The plane ride here was NOT easy. The 12 hour flight from Chicago to Tokoyo was the hardest to endure. My feet swelled up and hurted. I couldn't sleep. Not to mention I was lost and panicking once I arrived in Bangkok because the SAIL program director forgot about my arrival. But it all worked out in the end and now I'm here!
Here are some snap shots from today's arrival.
