The north is so beautiful. I love the mountains and enjoyed our nature hikes.
1. Sayabouri, Elephant Conservation Center
We spent two days at the ECC. Sayabouri has the most domesticated elphants in Laos. We wanted to support a facility that is doing good work and treating elephants well. Elephants are often mistreated when logging or entertaining tourists so we did our research and spent our time here.
After Sayabouri, we headed to the golden city of Luang Prabang. This is a UNESCO World Heritage cite. It is the old capital of Laos and has so much history. We visited local temples with amazing artwork and the royal palace while we were there.
Our last stop was the party city of Vang Vieng. Back packers love this place because it is easy going and has many outdoor activities. From biking, hiking, zip lining, to tubing, VV has it all. Drugs and unlimited alcohol use to be big here but now the crack down has clamed businesses down.
